SARAH UNDERWOOD

Sarah L Underwood is an oil painter based in Stotfold, Hertfordshire. She studied Fine Art at Loughborough University, graduated in 2010 and has been painting ever since.

 

Sarah loves to incorporate bright colours into her oil paintings. She aims to enhance them, making them brighter and more vibrant than they might appear in real life. 

 

She is drawn to still life imagery, and takes photos of objects or scenes that interest her in her day to day life. She aims to elevate them through painting. 

 

She paints for the joy of painting, each piece often evoking nostalgia or personal memories. She hopes they might stir something in the viewer; the joy of having a sunny breakfast in the garden, the cosy comfort of a slice of jam on toast, zingy avocados chopped for guacamole, hot coffee steaming in the pot, ripe fruits freshly washed in the colander…hopefully giving a cosy, cheerful feeling of home.
