“The expressive paintings aim to evoke a feeling, or to capture an impression of a sense of place, using light and darkness, an atmosphere or an unexpected detail, rather than a direct likeness energising the stillness and creating diffused light, the quiet moment, the in-between, the simplicity, the calmness and the beauty of the transience of life and of nature. Running through the work is the thread of opposites to celebrate the strength and fragility of being human.”
